Re: Multiple Fuel Filters?

Maybe some kind of squeeze ball like they use on a outboard boat gas tank would work to create enough vacuum to open the valve while cranking the engine ?? Jack Jack I looked for one everywhere about a year ago when I was using the vacuum valve. The outboard variety was of course too big. I may hav...

Re: Holiday Topic - Car Tire Vs. Bike Tire

I'm going to risk posting here at the expense of some guys who will take some big shots at me. I've rode both on various Boss Hoss bikes and come to the conclusion that the only good reason to use a car tire is because they're cheap. The bike rides like shit with them...period. Anyone using somethin...

Re: Holiday Topic - Horsepower Numbers

A lot has been said and argued on this and it's a difficult one to talk about. First, there were all kinds of fingers pointed that GM Performance was full of crap with the "502/502" claims. Salley Chevrolet did some dyno testing and there's been lots of articles on this. My conclusion was ...

Re: Holiday Topic - Horsepower Vs. Torque

You really smart types here (David, Geezer, Olaf, etc) know all the formulas about how hp and torque are really the same thing  (huh?) with the numeric values calculated but I'm a bit fuzzy there. I know there is a mathematical equation that calculates this with them equalling the same value ...

Re: Holiday Topic - Nitrous

All good provided it's the right application. I've been screwing with it on these bikes and trikes for the last 9 years and have learned a lot. GOOD: Exactly what Tom says. Add to that the look good/WOW factor and what's NOT good? NOT GOOD: Running too high a hp application of nitrous without good, ...

Re: Holiday Topic - Carburetor vs. Fuel Injection

I have a few thoughts/questions about this. THOUGHT..... I sure would prefer injection on those cold NC mornings. QUESTION.... Would all the little particulates and grit screw up FI like it does my carb? THOUGHT..... Sure is a lot easier to deal that messed up carb than messed up injection. QUESTION...

Yes, I agree with all the above, especially Olaf! That brings something to mind I want to see if you all are aware of....

Re: I'm Back...

BF, Nothing was said or done here that chased me away from this site. It was nothing personal whatsoever. I found it a bit cumbersome (translation: personally difficult) going back and forth between 2 V8 sites. Lots of redundancy with many of the same folks and topics on both sites. Just liked the s...

Re: SITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Just for informational purposes, I too have to scroll across to fit the page in. Not much, perhaps 1/4" or a few side clicks. Surprising considering I've got a big screen for a laptop.

Also having to consistently re-log in in spite of checking to automatically log in with future visits.

Re: Multiple Fuel Filters?

Jack, I'm a bit confused. I've always associated the term "hydrolocking" with fuel leaking into the cylinder. I don't think the little filter in the carb could be a component to that unless it somehow vented. With the system including the filter being closed to any type of air venting, I d...

Re: Multiple Fuel Filters?

Olaf, this is an invaluable story. People have thought I'm a bit crazy talking about multiple inline filters but after a few times running one before the fuel pump and another after exiting the tank and you still get shit in the carb...you get a bit paranoid or looking for over kill. I don't care ho...

Re: Multiple Fuel Filters?

Olaf, I'm thinking I'm going to run 2 also. I'm not too worried about the pump (Edelbrock mechanical) but I'm just not believing how much small, grit type crap I've seen in the carbs. If it ends up in the bottom of the bowl, no big deal but there's a ton of places even a little grit will really scre...

Multiple Fuel Filters?

Anyone running more than one fuel filter? There's so much crap in the gas we pump, just wondering at what point it could get too restrictive if using more than a single inline filter? It's definitely a pain in the ass pulling carbs out and apart with the tight fit, nitrous applications on some bikes...

Re: HEY GEEZ, RACE TRACK STUFF HERE!...

WM, Els has the drag race passion. He thrives on it. It would make his day if every V8 bike at Miami would race. I don't think it would matter that much where in the mix he ended up as long as his bike ran good and he figured he rode good. He will try to get everyone he can to race. I think its lik...

Re: HEY GEEZ, RACE TRACK STUFF HERE!...

Some time ago I spent a lot of time at the Pro NHRA events with the Pro Stock teams. At one event I was with Bob Glidden and a race team made a qualifying pass. This particular team would rarely run fast enough to make the 16 car field. After the pass they had a time slip in their hands showing num...
