It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!

Hunching my back and wringing my hands while I utter my fiendish laugh... It has been 15 months since Hossy breathed her last, but the big girl's bones are full of fire again! I did scads of minor improvements aside from those I mentioned in the truckload of threads I recently opened in the tech sec...

Ha! What are the odds? I was just wondering about that very thing yesterday! I figured it could be done. I've just never seen one behind a V8 trike. Congrats and enjoy!

Illuminated - 3rd Brake Light License Frame

Tonight, I installed a Custom Dynamics TruFLEX LED illuminated license plate frame with third brake light on my 2001 Boss Hoss trike. It works like a charm! Nice and bright (license plate and brake). I opted to not install the TFC 3 Dual Converter that came with it. It provides a means of using the ...

Re: Boss Hoss '57 Chevy Tilt Body Struts

While awaiting the 200 lb struts (should be here by next Wednesday), I'll keep the 60 lb ones on. They won't prop the body, but they sure make life a lot easier when I go to raise it.

Re: 2001 Boss Hoss Replacement Windshield

Here is a stock photo from online, and two photo's of my Hoss with the old windshield. This should suffice, as the extra two inches won't make a difference in a pic. It doesn't look like I ever took any closeups.

2001 Boss Hoss Replacement Windshield

I've heard them called windshields and windscreens, but I've only ever seen them listed as windshields in manufacturers' catalogs, so I went with that terminology. Not sure which of the two terms is more common here. Anyhow... I probably did not need to open a new thread for this, but here I am. I r...

2001 Boss Hoss Trike Rear Turn Signals Replaced

My Boss Hoss trike had Harley-Davidson style 43mm "short bullet" (I don't know the exact terminology) turn signals mounted beneath the '57 Chevy tilt body. Age and weather had taken their toll: the wires had rotted from inside the bullet housings (they were not weather sealed) and had brok...

Resolved: Boss Hoss '57 Chevy Tilt Body Struts

I installed a pair of gas struts (Suspa Lift Supports C16-06867) on my 2001 Boss Hoss '57 Chevy tilt body tonight. They fit perfectly but don't work: not enough grunt to keep that 'glass propped up. The set I bought were rated as "Force 267 = 60 Lbs." I took it as meaning 60 lbs per strut,...

Re: 2001 '57 Chevy Trike is not "Ship Shape"

Hang in there. You know it'll be well worth it. I think it should be stated that you are the forth or fifth owner of your trike and that it spent time on Florida's coast where it was subject to lots of salt air conditions and keep outside under a plastic cover. Paul H And then it was kept uncovered...

Re: 2001 '57 Chevy Trike is not "Ship Shape"

After more than a year, I finally got past my irritation at the seemingly endless stream of Hoss problems and got off my lazy hump to resume repairs and nit-picky little upgrades. I hope to have the trike rolling again by Thanksgiving or early December. Most of the prep work is completed.

Re: LED upgrade for silver bullet fog lights

Do a search for "Custom Dynamics" Then scroll down to Harley Davidson, then look for what you need. LED Turn signals or what ever. Paul H I just ordered a set to replace my aged/failing (corroded from the inside-out) rear LED turn signal bullets. Still running incandescent bulbs on the fr...

It definitely does not play well with Google Chrome. I haven't tried any other browsers. I rarely go there anymore because I wonder when those flashing screens and missing graphics are going to trigger some PTSD.

Re: Install Tire Balancing Beads

I hope the beads take care of the problem. If not, maybe consider reattaching the steering damper just for giggles? You never can tell. The modified rake may have caused something funny (different weight distrbution at higher speeds?) Seems to me it would have put a tad more weight on the front tire...

Re: Install Tire Balancing Beads

I have just ordered beads for front and back wheels. I have an annoying vibration through the bars after about 50 mph. Just gets worse as I get faster. I changed the bearings and renewed the fork oil. I figure £30 of beads may be a good investment Silly question, but does your trike have a steering...

Resolved: Busted Alternator Bracket on 2001 ZZ4

I hope my descriptions don't confuse anyone... While changing the alternator belt on my 2001 Boss Hoss ZZ4, I discovered the rear tab that helps secure the top end of the alternator body to the main bracket had broken off. After removing the alternator bracket from the engine block, I discovered two...

Install Tire Balancing Beads

I installed Dyna ceramic balance beads (E-Z tire beads shown in photo) in my 2001 Boss Hoss' front tire. Why? Because I got tired of this desert heat melting the 3M from the stick-on weights and having them flop off onto the pavement every time I turned around. I have not had a chance to ride the Ho...

Timing Marks on ZZ4

I finally located the timing marks on the crank pulley on my 2001 ZZ4. They're etched in the back of the pulley facing the engine block. That solves the mystery of why there's a weird unmarked, sharp metal tab just above the electric water pump. At first, I was thinking the notched hump in the black...
