Re: Fuel Filter
I don't understand why these filters are made of glass , what's wrong with clear plastic tubing . No mater where you install these glass filters if they break and the fuel lands anywhere hot like exhaust pipes especially they are a hasard . A fuel pressure gage will tell you if you have fuel flow o...

Re: Fuel Filter
Mine are installed about 6 inches or so behind the tank and under the seat, around 18 inches or so away from the tank's petcock, just before the three-way tank selector valve I attached to the frame behind my left leg. The trike gives me a bit more wiggle room than a bike would. I don't know whether...

Re: Fuel Filter
I have two of those glass filters, one on the main line and one on my auxiliary. Have been using them for about two years. The ends can came loose during installation, and went undetected for a while. I discovered a few drips from them after a few rides. I resolved the issue by tightening the hose b...

Re: Operation: Shred Her Big Seat
Thank you, Paul. Dremel is all I have for now, but it has done the trick. Now I'm down to the refining portion of my cuts. This is taking the most time, whittling away little by little, and testing it in place with the tank raised, so that I don't over-do it. I think I might have the cuts finished t...

Operation: Shred Her Big Seat
I've been under the radar for a few months. Too much real life throwing monkey wrenches in the works. Anyhow, I reckon I'll try to get back into the swing of things. While my 2001 Boss Hoss trike is down for more radiator damage (the desert is a hostile environment), I decided to turn Hoss' dual tou...

Re: Defective Rear Master Cylinder: 2001 Boss Hoss
Worn out is more accurate. I am not a particularly strong communicator. At this point in life I doubt I will ever fully grasp the proper use of certain terms within the English language. Hopefully, folks were able to follow what I was attempting to convey. Thanx much.

Re: Defective Rear Master Cylinder: 2001 Boss Hoss
Will do, eventually...
New radiator leaks sprang up today, so that puts a damper on things for a bit.
This trike is cursed.

Re: HOW LONG
I'm no spring chicken but then neither is my '57 Chevy trike. The Hoss turned 16 years old in February. I'm owner #8, spanning 6 states, so it has had quite a life, high miles or not. Approaching only 33,000 miles on the odometer (I put on 10,000 of those since bringing it home in mid December '14)....

Re: Defective Rear Master Cylinder: 2001 Boss Hoss
The aftermarket H-D Kelsey-Hayes style 3/4" bore rear master cylinder is installed. I am not certain of the brand (bought new off eBay from a Colorado seller for around $70). Other smaller parts were a long time coming, but I slung it all together as soon as the last piece arrived (a 90 degree ...

Re: Defective Rear Master Cylinder: 2001 Boss Hoss
Yep. It was originally DOT5. Still using it. Though with the age of this beast and the hard life it has lived, there's no telling what's going on. I did not check specifically to see whether the Harley rebuild kit was compatible with DOT5. I took it for granted. It might not have been.

Worn Out - Unrepairable Rear Master Cylinder: 2001 Boss Hoss
It looks like my rear master cylinder is on its last leg. I have tried 3 or 4 different Harley-Davidson 5/8" bore rebuild kits over the past 2 years, and most recently sent the master cylinder to a shop to tack shut one of the holes in the bottom of the reservoir. It had begun doing the dreaded...

Re: Engine Coolant Puddles On Intake Manifold
Yep. Exactly that. I had originally used the wafer-thin gasket that came with it (replacement thermostat housing). It apparently didn't do the trick. Using silicone gasket maker this time around.

Re: Front Brake Light Switch
Oops! The OP is addressing front brakes, not rear. Goodridge PBL775-44CH Harley Brake Light Banjo Bolt w/Pressure Switch 7/16-24 was the replacement line pressure brake light switch I used on mine. I don't know if it will fit your hand brake reservoir (H-D/Indian) but it fit mine perfectly. ..... Ol...

Re: Front Brake Light Switch
I've never had a standard GM brake light pressure switch last for more than a few thousand miles on my 2001 BH ZZ4 Trike (rear drum brakes). Though I cannot validate the info, I have come across some who say that the problem lies in the brake line pressure required to activate the switch reliably (9...

Re: Check your throttle cable!!!
Mine snapped on the freeway just a few days after returning home from California back in May. It had sawn completely through the 45 degree elbow beneath the hand grip. Turns out the cable didn't have any slack in it at idle. This being my first ride (bike/trike) of any kind, the cable tension seemed...

Re: Arnott no longer selling Boss Hoss Shocks
I heard they're still selling them? "Arnott!" Wocka wocka! Sorry foks, I couldn't resist! (No disrespect intended toward the good folks at Arnott). Foolishness aside, I am not in any need of replacement shocks yet, but as the OP asked, I am also curious whether there are any alternatives o...

Engine Coolant Puddles On Intake Manifold
2001 Boss Hoss ZZ4 350: Several times I have noticed small engine coolant puddles forming on top of my intake manifold, around the studs that attach to the upper engine mount plates. Coolant had also bled onto the front of the block and down the length of the cylinder heads to the rear of the block....
