Selling my BH to upgrade, again. 1997 Boss Hoss SBC. 22k miles. Upgraded from a clutch bike to a single speed auto. New plugs and wires. Wiring has been gone through and a good part of it replaced. Needs: -Starter rebuild -Carb was rebuilt by me, but should go to Carb Mike. -Trans could use new flui...

Re: 2008 Boss SBC w/ tired transmission
The most correct answer is it's worth whatever some is willing to pay. Also is it a 1998 or 2008? The title and body say two different things. For that price I'm assuming 1998. I just paid $8500 for a 1997 SBC with 22k miles that was converted from a manual trans to a single speed auto. Trans is wea...

Re: SB overheating
Did you pull a line off to check the water pump flow? A backwards fan may do it, but whether its pushing or pulling air shouldn't matter much. Actually it does matter as I found out quite a few years ago. On the other Forum someone shared the wiring to make the fan run in reverse when you were in r...

Re: Time to Clean the Front Dual Brake Calipers
A dial indicator with a magnetic base would also help check the rotor without removing it. If you know of anyone that has one it'd be a quick thing to try.

Re: Time to Clean the Front Dual Brake Calipers
Is the rotor warped? Have you checked flatness of it? An easy test may be to use some blue machinists dye and cover the face of the rotor. Take it for a short test drive and don't use your front brakes. If the dye is worn off in spots, it'll show you that it's warped. I'd suspect this especially if ...
Re: Quadrajet
All I can say I don't see how I could get any quicker response or better ecceleration than I have now with my Stage ll Quadrajet . Thing is instant . Carburetor Mike works magic with these things! Mine is a Stage II as well. Can I ask what the price and turnaround time was for his Stage 2 mod? I've...

Re: Resolved: No Turn Signals
I had almost the exact same problem this summer. Very intermittent failures on my brake light, turn signals, and headlights. I thought I finally fixed it and rode for 100 miles with the tank off (stopping every 20 miles for fuel lol). Worked flawlessly. Threw the tank on and the first ride everythin...

Re: It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!
It shouldn't take that much fuel to get started. One or two pumps of the throttle should be enough for the accelerator pump to put what's needed in there to fire. A common problem with older carbs is the vacuum boots that cover the ports. Are yours torn up or dry rotted? If so, it will be drawing in...
Re: Quadrajet
I just tore my Edelbrock Quadrajet down to nothing on my 1997 SB during rebuild. I'm no carb expert, just a dumb mechanical engineer. Tearing my carb down for rebuild was my first experience with it. The stock Edelbrock 750cfm has Mechanical Secondaries, not vacuum. The diaphragm for the choke shoul...
Re: Machining
Main equipment is a vertical CNC mill and just ordered a CNC plasma table. I brought in the cad software, Autocad and Autodesk Inventor. We can plasma cut steel up to 1/4" thick, and the CNC capacity is roughly 30" X by 18" Y x 12" Z. Already have accounts with paint, powdercoat,...
Machining
When I bought my BH, the gas tank was sitting on mounts that made it sit about 1-1/2" lower in the front. The original brackets were aluminum with rounded out clearance holes and the offset was obviously bent with a pair of vise grips. Recently I acquired a small local machine shop and had them...

I see the fluid is a little low right now. Not terrible, but could stand to receive a little extra.
I'm assuming it's standard ATF?

Does anyone have any information or manuals on a single speed automatic? My 1997 was converted from a clutch to an automatic before I purchased it, and I'm having a few issues with it. I did buy an owners manual for the bike, but it only talks about a clutch bike. The problem I'm having is it won't ...

Re: Lumpy Acceleration
I just rebuilt my 1901 actually. So I may be able to help a little. The Edelbrock part number you need is #1920. This is for the entire rebuild kit. I also recommend soaking the carb for a few hours after you pull everything apart in the nastiest non-environmentally friendly substance you can find. ...

Had the same problem on my old Harley. Turn the key on and everything lights up, but wouldn't even try to crank. Does anyone know of a place to get these? Can't seem to find the anywhere. It's the clamp for my side cover. I seem to be in need of one. Or is it dealership only? Off a 1997 SB.

I think this T.Stat was for a Ford V8 as the Autoshops over here tend to cross-reference USA vehicles if they can't find the part. We've gone off topic a bit but it's still interesting to see how others are running their bikes... So, Plan A: (Original set-up) Water pump comes on with ignition, no T...

Re: A Different Transmission Question...
Depends on the variables. Just eyeballing it, it looks like a 1.5" diameter bore and maybe a .25" rod. I'll just use those numbers for an example. Pushing on the rod side of the cylinder yields less force due to the reduced area (the rod takes away space inside the cylinder). If you can mu...

Re: A Different Transmission Question...
Carl is correct. The only port is on the rod end of that cylinder, and that will pull it. So it must return to it's normal position with the spring force of the clutch.

Re: Edelbrock 1901 Carb
Well I tore the 1901 down to bare bones today and did a full rebuild. Hooked it back up and what a difference it made in throttle response. The motor just sounds healthy. Also had my first experience buying parts at the local auto parts store. The guy behind the counter was very eager about getting ...
