Thanks Aussie.. That is what I did but it still don`t change the fact that the shaft flexes the same as with the old set up.... We are working on an internal bearing set up to run on the shaft. Mountian came up with the idea but dropped it when the "new improved" side cover set up came out...

While in Laughlin last weekend I played too hard and slipped my 2nd gear clutch pretty bad at 120 or so... So... with the upcoming trip to Oklahoma I thought it best to go ahead and pull it and put a set of clutches in it. I have the 08 upgrades including the left side cover which moves the bearing ...

When I bought my new belt last summer I found it was blue... I called the factory out of curiosity and they said the difference was cosmetic. I didn`t believe that so I did some looking on Gates site and found the difference is the belt is now carbon fiber instead of nylon corded. If you look at the...

Well.. After much trouble and disgust I have decided to junk my fuel injection.. I was having trouble with the ECM losing tach signal and shutting the engine down. After many phone calls to RETROTEK and getting the same ol story of WOW.. we never heard of that happening before.. and their lack of su...

You noticed that too huh?? I wasn`t going to say anything. While playing with engine alignment on my bike last weekend I noticed the bolt that holds the cap for the swingarm bolt was directly in line with one of the clutch cover cap screws... This bike it is back..... 1/2 inch maybe??? Good eye.

Re: Slow running
Steve... The right side (secondary plate) adjust screw is accessed from the bottom side of the base plate. You have to take the carb off and turn it over to see it. You might have some worn throttle shafts. With the engine running.. push the throttle linkage closed and see if your idle drops. Could ...

Re: Holley Carb or not???
I know of only one guy with a street avenger on his bike and to make it fit he had to install it backwards to clear the frame tubes. I suspect the vacuum secondary carb would have the same clearance issue with the vacuum pot hitting the frame. He hasn`t ridden the bike much but claims it works fine ...

Re: Holley Carb or not???
I had a 1910 that once that had a casting flaw that acted just as you describe... I checked the plugs in the bottom and done all the usual tricks but it still flooded when shut off hot. I finally replaced the main body and problem solved.

Re: Slow running
Morning guys... Steve.. My Kannon had a holley on it. Yours should be the same and if so you have two idle adjust screws. One is on the primary side and you can adjust it with the carb on the bike. The other is on the secondary side and is on the bottom side of the base plate.

Olaf... The Kannon you saw in Sturgis was my old bike. It was very much like John`s bike but no fade in the red in the paint. The ford powered bike and my old bike were the demo bikes at that time...

Re: Requesting Frame Splitting Advice
Darryl... I use a 15" dual pass heat sink mounted under the lower air dam along with the stock cooler. Adding the heat sink cooler dropped my trans temps a good 20-30 degrees so it is a must have. When we do your trans we will install a sender for the gauge. I run mine using just the one gauge ...
Re: WOW!!!!!
My first V8 bike was a Kannon. I saw my first V8 bike back in the 80s and it was a home built aluminum block Oldsmobile powered bike. I was riding down the freeway on my 750 honda and saw this huge bike ahead.. I wanted a closer look so I speeded up to catch him. Everytime I would almost get up to h...

Re: Requesting Frame Splitting Advice
Darryl... I would stick to the stock converter. The BB makes so much torque so low in the power band that if you raise the stall speed you will be defeating the purpose of a 502 and will most likely spin the tire when you don`t want to. The factory offers two converters with the stock stall speed. O...

Re: Requesting Frame Splitting Advice
Darryl, You can use 4 Jackstands and a hoist or two floor jacks for the rear. Either way it is not that hard to do. The later biukes like yours all seem to come apart with little effort once the bolts are out. I will send you some pics and also one or two of the cooler I used. It is a dual pass heat...

You bet... I should have my bike in order by then... It`s on the chopping block again next week. I`m going to back off the cam a little for some better tuning on my fuel injection...Go to solid lifters, with some tougher springs, and do the 08 output shaft and bearing on the trans. it will be intere...
