6th Annual V8 Motorcycle Run and Show - Daytona Bike Week

Post by Wild Bill »

Here are the details for this year's event:

6th Annual V8 Motorcycle Run and Show
- Wednesday, March 3rd, kickstands up at 1:00pm
- Start: Cycle World of Daytona / Boss Hoss of Daytona (Thanks again to Randy Epling for hosting this event!). Near intersection of I-95 and International Speedway Blvd.
- End: Destination Daytona's Coca-Cola Pavilion, Ormond Beach, FL (New home of The Rat's Hole Show). Arrival time of approximately 2:30pm.
- Yes, we will be BLOWING THOUSANDS OF MINDS as we come rumbling into this ocean of bikers/vendors!!!
- Route: Not telling just yet!
- We have partnered up with The Rat's Hole Show Organization for 2010 (Thanks to Lunderman Boss Hoss Cycles of Virginia for your hard work in making this happen!).
- Bike/Trike show at Coca-Cola Pavilion will be unlike most shows - It will be faster-paced so we can enjoy an hour or two together as a group and then let everyone move onto other things if they wish. However, we have the pavilion until 9:00pm so let's stay as long as possible and enjoy all this GREAT LOCATION has to offer (as well as the attention from thousands of on-lookers)! This is great publicity for V8-Powered Motorcycles/Trikes.
- The Rat's Hole Show will provide their own judges and will quickly judge all bikes/trikes so the awards ceremony will take place within an hour and a half of when we arrive. Please plan on staying for the awards presentation.
- Plaques with the Rat's Hole Show logo will be given out to MANY bikes and trikes. Over 20 will be given out!
- Event T-Shirts are being made right now and will be given to all participants. You will be able to buy more at a special ebay site that will be set up very soon. We have chosen Bruce and Debbie Vetti's V8 Bike Build-Off-Winning "Dragon Slayer" Chopper for the T-Shirt artwork. I still wish I had the bucks to buy that machine from Stamford Boss Hoss!!! Bruce, how about another few laps down Main Street as a group this year??? Get the zoomie pipes installed!!!
- Commemorative 32 oz insulated mugs with one free fill-up will also be given out to all participants.
- There is no charge for the ride/show, but we are once again asking for donations for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. 50/50 tickets will also be sold and all proceeds go directly to the Shriners for this very worthy cause. Let's all donate generously and hit the $1,000 mark for the first time this year!!!
- The Rat's Hole Show Organization is asking that all event participants register for the show. We will have forms at Cycle World of Daytona and at Destination Daytona. This will help us with T-Shirt/Mug distribution, etc.
- Sponsored by:
Boss Hoss Motorcycles
Lunderman Boss Hoss Cycles of Virginia
Cycle World of Daytona / Daytona Boss Hoss
Boss Hoss of Frederick
Mountain Boss Hoss
Stamford Boss Hoss
Lima Boss Hoss
Chopper City Sports
Boss Hoss Cycles of Houston
Summit Boss Hoss
Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the BHRA

- Please consider coming to Cycle World of Daytona early and buying lunch at the Wheelie Hungry Cafe Restaurant located inside of their incredible dealership. Randy Epling has been a tremendous supporter of V8 powered bikes/trikes for years and he has been a gracious sponsor of this event for years as well. Please join me there around 11:30am to give him a BIG THANK YOU!!!

Please help get the word out about this event. The Rats Hole People are very excited about this new relationship and the participation this first year will help determine if we are invited back to do this again with them in the future.

THANKS!

Hey guys, WTF? Why have we not done over $1,000 before. We ride the most expensive bikes on the planet and we can't do better than that? 80 riders times $20.00 each is $1,600. This is an embarrassing low amount. Now, I know the economy sucks now but what about the last few years when it wasn't? Please anti up this year for the Kids. If you can't afford $20 then find someone to sponsor your ride if you can. This is a great cause, just do what you can.

CR,

Your post regarding the ride...I 100% agree and was pretty embarassed last year when I heard the total. I showed up for the line up but then broke off 5 minutes into the ride. I don't do the big parades personally but wanted to be there to contribute and see who was there. When I saw the number of V8 bikes and trikes and did the $$$'s per in my head, I thought there would be boo koo bucks. There sure should have been. Who the hell shows up for a benefit ride like that and doesn't ante up? That's pretty fucked up. Hopefully this time some of the folks will figure out it's just not to take a ride.

I'll also remind folks like myself who aren't going to ride to for sure throw in some bucks for the cause...

Uwe and Heike,
Yes, the ride will start at Cycle World of Daytona / Boss Hoss Cycles of Daytona. This is right near the intersection of I-95 and International Speedway Blvd. You can ask around for directions once you get into town.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Elliot,
Thanks for your efforts to help raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The blame should probably fall on my shoulders for the low contributions in the past. I have been a bit uncomfortable pushing hard for donations. I certainly don't want anyone to see me as a pest!

It would be fantastic to exceed the $1,000 mark as a group for the first time ever this year!!!

Elvis, great pics, but it appears you have a story to tell us all. I see no King V in the pics but a 502 seems to be in it's place.

Thanks Guys
2000 Big Block, 13,000 miles, Mardi Gras paint scheme, with color changing paint, the blue turns green as you move around it, NITROUS, Chopper City nitrous controller. I've already replaced the header clam shell to Big Block, it still had the original V6 left / Small Block right covers. Had those delivered before I even bought the bike :)
Took it to Daytona to ride in Wild Bill's charity ride, even got play escort with Green Bean, Hawk, and Pete Ellis, blocking intersections, and racing back to the front to block again.

On Friday I drove up to Cleveland Tennessee, Dave drove down from Maryland, test drove around the parking lot (one small burn out) and onto the trailer. Drove home Saturday, registered it Monday morning, then left for Daytona about Noon. Arrived at Billy's about Midnight, slept in the truck (cold). Bob Gbur woke me with an offer of fresh coffee. Billy lead me around to the Speedway (V8 Choppers), and over to Mountain Boss Hoss to meet up with Wild Bill, and Crazy Rick. Got to do Main Street, the tunnel under the speedway (fun with open headers) and the infield. Went to Tim, and Mary's Bar BQ, that night with Green Bean, and V Man, good food, Good people (cold). Billy had a spare couch so no cold truck seat that night :)
Wednesday morning was, Bob grocery shopping :), Phyllis scrambling eggs, and Conrad frying everything up. We then met up with the V8 group at the Harley shop, did our loop around Daytona Beach, ended up at the Rat's hole V8 bike show for a couple of hours. Drove back to Billy's, already had the ramp down, drove straight onto the trailer, strapped it down, and pulled out about 5 pm headed back to New Orleans. Got home just before daylight, so I just stayed up till 8 pm, so I wouldn't mess myself up for work Friday morning.
The bike worked great, idled like a Big Block should, after first warm up it fired up instantly all day, burnout are easy, transmission hooks up good so far, needs return spring replaced) kind of weird having a second gear and reverse, but other than that it feels just like my little bike :)
A big thanks to Billy, and Phyllis for a place to park, and sleep for my little 2 day hit and run trip to Daytona.

Elvis,
congrats on this BEAUTIFUL 2000 BB!!!! Andy's first bike was a 2000 BB, too....I remember very good how impressive that monster was. It has the old style frame which makes it somehow appear much bigger than the 2001 and later BB's. Really cool bike, nice paintjob, and you have the old style Wilwood brakes and mirage rotors which I loved. They work great and look so much better than the new Brembo's.

Damn nice bike...
