I think If I see my way clear to shipping my bike anywhere, I might take a page out of Uwe's book... and have my machinist buddy make me a transport frame out of aluminum square tubing... and have a dozen tie-down points made. Looks like the best way to ship such a machine.
I heard something scary a while back about shipping a bike or anything for that matter across the Ocean and that is if the captain of the ship decides they need to lighten their load in an emergency situation they are not particular as to what goes over the side to maintain or save the ship . I'd make sure I had lots of insurance .

You'd have to be a pretty good Captain to 'Save the Load'... and NOT the ship....
"Ok, People... this is your Captain speaking.... We have a Boss Hoss to save, and will need sixteen volunteers to go down with the ship... as it will take up one life boat.... Now take your time in making your decision... there is some poor American/Canadian who stands to loose his life long dream of riding his bike."

The point I was trying to make is they don't pick and chose what goes over the side if they need to lighten the load . I would guess it's whatever containers that are on top would go first no matter whats in them .

I suspect you are right Jack, apologies if I made light of a serious statement on a valid warning. And I certainly didn't want to offend you in my goofy stupidity. Won't happen again....
well... for NOW anyway. LOL. Always look forward to your comments on all topics.
