Ron & Deb's Northern Adventure

Ron and I went to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan recently and had a really nice time. The weather was perfect and the scenery was very pretty. We had not been to the northern parts of these states so we had a good time exploring. The first day we took Highway 61 from Duluth north to the Canadian border. It was pretty foggy here and there.

But when the fog finally burned off we got to see things like this:

This is what it looked like inside the lighthouse and an up close view of the "light"

We also saw some wildlife. This is a mother fox and the next pic is one of the 2 babies that were
near by.

There were several tunnels on Highway 61 that were pretty neat.

And of course, beautiful scenery of the hills and Lake Superior.

One of the places we stopped was the falls on the Black River. The water is truly black. It is black from the natural dye that comes from the Hemlock trees that are all around the river.

We stopped in Ashland, WI and explored the town. Several buildings had murals painted on them that were really amazing. This one was my favorite. It was one long mural but took 2 pics to get it all.

This is a little bar that we stopped at for dinner one day and a drink the next. When we were there the patrons took a lot of looks and photos of my trike. As we were getting ready to leave a Harley pulled up beside our trike just as a man was coming out of the bar with his camera to get a photo. He told the Harley rider to move his bike so he could get a photo of our trike.

We went to Bayfield, WI on Lake Superior and took the ferry over to Madeline Island which is one of the Apostle Islands. Here we are waiting in line to board the ferry.

Boarding the ferry.

While we were waiting on board the ferry for the rest of the cars and people to board, the people on the dock saw the trike. A lady was trying to get a pic of it but the side wall of the ferry was making it difficult. So she gave the camera to her husband and he got up on the bench to get a pic of our trike.

After a 20-25 minute ride across Lake Superior we arrived on Madeline Island. It is the largest of the Apostle Islands and is the only island that is inhabited year round. It is 14 miles long and 3 miles wide. We had a really good time driving all over the island. It was amazing to see houses with their own private dock and beach and a farm on what seems like a small island. It was a really good day, beautiful weather, nice, smooth roads with not much traffic. We stopped for lunch at a little restaurant/bar called The Beach Club. We had a very nice lunch right there on the edge of Lake Superior.

Ron says he still likes Colorado and the mountains better but it was a really good trip!

Thanks for the pics Deb. I've been to all these places more than once. The ride up the lake from Duluth to Canada is awesome. When you were in Ashland you were real close to Barb and I in Minocqua Wis. Glad your enjoying what ever you want to do. Steve :)

Hey asshole there was a shortage of adult establishments in that
part of the country. Hoping our trip to Colorado next week has
all the finer things that mother nature offers.
