Shipping a v8 bike to Europe and back

and riding it in the UK and France.... anyone had any experience with this? If I may ask, which shipping company did you use and were there any issues with temporary import and registration of the bike? Thanks for any info! (I am contemplating A Plan for 2011...)

I don't know about shipping, but if it is registerd in the states, Canada or just anywhere, you can ride it here. There is no need to register it in Europe.

You probably have to drain all liquids so you would need a place to refill oil, gas and so on.

Maybe you could send it through the factory to Boss Hoss Germany...

For what its worth you should contact Ewe Freund at bosshoss1.uwe@web.de as he ships his bike over and back yearly by air. He attends Daytona and a lot of people are familiar with him and his wife. They are regulars on the web site in a lot of pics. He should be able to hook you up. It takes to long by boat, I know I ship a lot of cars by boat, thats my business.

I'll keep looking... but probably the costs of other shippers will be similar to this. which is a bit rich for my blood, may have to rent a Harley. (Problem was, when I came back from my coast-to-coast ride on Miss B a couple weeks ago and got back on my Dyna, it really felt woefully undersized... not its fault...). I would love to ride down Old Kent Road and Mayfair on a V8 bike, and then cross the Channel and ride to Pullman City!

The advantage of shipping by air, is that you may travel in the same plane and almost get your bike the day you arrive if you want that.

The cost is cut at least in half when you ship it in a container, but from the day you ship it to the day to pick it up again, it takes about 6 weeks depending on how curious the guys at customs are and how the scedule of the shipping company is. (planes go every day)

When I shipped my bike in 2006 to Daytona I left it with the shipping company beginning of January, spend three weeks with it in Florida, and had it back by mid of April. But I hear that in the meantime you may calculate more time with all the bomb threads and the resulting controlls going on.
