Talked to Geezer, who talked to VanSant, who was with Harold. No update yet other than he went to Dyersburg first then Memphis - more later

This is the report I got from Harolds sister a little after midnight:

Harold has alot of injuries. The doctor called me after surgery. His spleen was shattered,left rib fractures, possible back fracture,damage/trauma to aortic arch and possible surgery, blood transfusions and on breathing machine

Getting different reports for sure...let's hope that the ones that are less serious are true...

Bill Van Sant says "2 fractured ribs on left side. Left lung slightly collapsed. I have his 2 front teeth on the seat of my truck. Received blood. Spleen was shattered. Spleen was removed. Aortic Arch might need to be repaired. Possible back trauma. Is aware of his surroundings. Keeping tabs on BP and possible anemic situation. Currently has a vent tube in. In critical care at the moment."

Latest updates I have seen:
from his daughter- Update for Harold Blocker... Last night he had his spleen removed as it was smashed in the accident yesterday morning. He has a few broken ribs, a torn or damaged aortic arch, and possible fractures in the spine. He is currently on a ventilator, (they're keeping him sedated because of the pain), but the doctors think he will be able to come off the vent in a few days. He will have an MRI of the spine soon and then we will know more. The doctors are waiting to see if the aorta heals itself before going in to repair it. I believe they will try some type of nerve block to deliver pain meds directly to the ribs at some point. Although he cannot speak because of the breathing tube, he does answer questions when he is awake with nods and head shakes. He is aware of where he is and what has happened. His condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

Thanks for all the prayers, and well-wishes. I know he will enjoy all of the attention when he wakes up!

From a friend- Just left hospital, Harold Blocker is in ICU at The Med he has a small tear in his aorta that they think will repair its self, a partial collapsed lung, concerned about spine if they are seeing old damage or new, doing MRI soon and took his spleen out. Daughter & sister are with him needs your prayers!!!

Does anybody know if this was a single vehicle crash or did it it involve someone else?? Just curious.

UPDATE 2/2: Harold had an ok night...hospital staff did get the MRI done...hoping the injuries to his back and spine are old injuries but family is waiting for the radiologist report. They increased his ventilator because they want to keep the collapsed lung open. He is in severe pain..but for everything he is going through at this point Harold is holding his own...Doctors are hoping to be able to remove the ventilator tube maybe tomorrow because then they can insert this sprayer that will constantly keep pain meds on his ribs. Another update (hopefully) this afternoon.

Harold, Lets hope for a speedy recovery, and your back in action soon.

Yes, I had the ring-side seat directly behind Harold when he crashed.
He was coming up to a T-intersection. He was probably down to about 30 MPH.
I was down to about 45. His left directional was on, also his brake light.
Suddenly his rear wheel locks up and he skids about 50' in a perfectly straight line.
His bike then wiggled, high-sided, and threw him about 6' in the air.
He landed right in the middle of road.
When I got to him, both his front teeth were laying on the highway by his head.
Helmet saved his noggin. Labored breathing. Told him not to move.
He came to, and wiggled his legs and hands, so his neck was NOT broken.
Ambulance ride to the Dyersburg hospital, then air lifted to The MED in Memphis.
2 fractured ribs, slightly collapsed lung. NO back injury. He is improving as of this
evening(3 Feb). His MRI and Cat Scan came back good. They hope to remove his
vent tube some time tomorrow and get him moving a bit. Trying to reduce swelling.
I will go see him this weekend. Keep praying, EVERYBODY !!!!!

Good to hear things are going in the right direction! Harold is a great guy and like all of you, wish him a complete recovery.
