Am I paranoid?

Hi all, after having a fire last year from a fuel leak I’ve become very paranoid about smelling gas, fuel. I know the reserve tank vents to atmosphere and that I have a large carb pumping fuel straight in. When the weather is warm or the engine is hot I sometimes smell fuel. Mainly from the front of the engine and when the fan comes on. Is the smell of fuel normal for a carb BH or should I be looking harder for a leak ?
Thanks

Coming into the garage it always smelled like there was a open jar filled with gasoline sitting in the corner. But never had a leak.......

Sounds like a different set-up on the bikes - we don't have a reserve tank.
No petrol smells here, so is this a trike problem maybe?

Thanks, think the only way to satisfy myself is a pressure test.

Don't forget, you have a carb with a bowl filled with gas. When you park the bike some of that gas is spilled (lean angel). What's left will evaporate anyway because of the hot motor below. That means smelly garage.
As for me I close the petcock before I stop the motor. I even manoever the bike (running motor of course) with closed petcock.
Thatway I nearly have no smelling in the garage.

Thanks Swiss, it a trike so no lean. As the title said, probably being paranoid but having had the top of the trike burst in to flames some time back it does that !!!

Oh, sorry. I didn't read good enough...

But still, with closing the petcock a while before you shut off the motor you should smell less gas fumes in the garage.

And all together, beeing paranoid sometimes helps saving lifes...
- Just don't go too far :D
