Hey Guys,
The name changed from "Boy Toy Cycles" to "American King V" when Orville sold the company to Bobby.

Elvis, I came across this link doing a google search for Boy Toy Cycles. Is this something new or years old and just hanging out on the net? Looks like there was a bit of bad blood between partners here? They're talking about 2 speed trans with reverse so I assume its something new?

WM,

That's some really weird shit. I'm anxious to hear what Elvis or anyone in the know says about this too. That "vendetta" crap is just that. They couldn't be seriious about doing bikes when there's so much trash innuendo, no bike pics (nice boat & beach shot though?) and no links or any factual or reference info. Hard to believe someone would actually maintain that site or use it in an effort to market V8 bikes.

I'm willing to bet there's an interesting story here...

Boy Toy Cycles started off fun, Till Petes Harley Davidson in the Netherlands took advantage of us. So we started American King V with Partners?
sound plausible. If I remember this right, Orville sold Boy Toy to Bobby, Bobby tried to get something going with Peets HD in the Netherlands, but Peets started producing under the "V8 Motorcycle" name without him. Bobby then sold the company to Scott where it was renamed "American King V" somewhere around 2000. I don't know if Scott and Bobby were partners, or it could be Scott, and someone else now. I haven't heard anything about this, my last 3 emails went unanswered.

I can't remember what they called these over there, hmmm I will have to think about it. But this one is from the time that the design was being produced there I think. WM
Like the URL on the bottom of the picture. "V8 Motorcycles" That model is the "Midnight Rider", and the custom or the rigid, was the "Silver Dollar".
Looks like they had added a vacuum booster for the clutch, and a burnout bearing on the output shaft.

I've got to tell you...I couldn't stop staring at the previous picture. I think that's a very good looking bike and some really great looking features. Headlight, gas tank, solo seat, bobbed fender and those '59 (?) Cadillac bullet tail light lens are really cool 8-) .

I rode one King V belonging to a friend but it wasn't running good at the time which was right around 2001. As I recall, there was a very interesting ignition system with a stator or trigger and numerous coils. That was the root of the problem that particular bike had at the time. It was also geared very high and had weak low end performance. Not sure if they all came like that or what. Like the one pictured, it was a great looking bike.

Here's their manual for the HPX. I have the HPV-1 on my bike that seems stuck full advanced, and the new HPX on a shelf because it wouldn't start reliably.
They read real well, and when their working right their great, but when you're trying to trouble shoot a tuning problem, it would be great to pop a different distributor in there just to check the ignition. I don't have the test tools to diagnose these crank trigger ignitions.
