If I don't get a response back from Rewaco.de, I will probably go with either the 800 or 1200 gs adventure by BMW. Sat on one in Orlando and it felt pretty darn good.
I was seriously toying with the idea of shipping the Slingshot over but i saw quickly that would not be practical ... at all. It would cost the same as shipping 2 bikes as that is how much space it would take up in the container. Dunno ... Still may end up with some kind of a bagger decisions decisions decisions. I know that whatever it is, it will NOT be a Harley. I know I will need something with more than 65 hp. Not worried, something good will pop up :)

Yes with these two you are well taken care of!

A good desision to stay a little longer to get most out of your flight!
If you make it into the Swiss Alps I would like to guide you so you really see what you need to see...

What would be the minimum time needed for a visit to said Alps?

Biene and I will come to Daytona February 7th and stay in Spruce Creek (Pt. Orange) till March 16th. Enough time to sit together and work out some nice trips for you and give more hints what to do. :germany:
Last time when Wildman and Aussierob came over Olaf and I picked them up at the Harley rental in Frankfurt and escorted them to Pullman.
If you go to Heidelberg anyway you could rent a bike from Stefan as well. His bikes are not shiny but reasonable and good enough. With a GPS you will have no problem at all to make it to Pullman. Get there as early as possible in that week so we can make tour through the Harz and have some cold ones in the evenings :D

I am making arrangements right now with BMW in Kaiserslautern. I will be riding a 1200GS Adventure for the time I am there. They are an hour away from Frankfurt ( 120 km ) but it is worth the trip :)

Will Definitely be meeting with ALL of you guys in Daytona kicking back a few, Joking around and planning what is shaping up to be an awesome time.

Cool Dennis...you will enjoy whatever ride you have there for sure...it is really exciting and we are still quit a ways away...

I will need to get the word out at the Rally that the trike I am taking over is for sale. I have approached 3 dealers there and so far no luck in one of them buying it from me.

If it does not sell I may swing back over in August for the Boss Hoss rally in Oslo...I am sure I could convince someone from Germany to ride over there with me???

I'm living in St.Gallen.
To ride around in the center of the Swiss Alps, lets say Andermatt to start with, it's less than half a day from my place.
I have about 650km to Hasselfelde in Germany where the Pullman City rally takes place. If I take the German Autobahn, it's one day, but side roads are more fun. That takes you two or three days to cover the distance.

Go and hit these different town names into Google maps and then you know.

To really enjoy riding in the Alps I would stay at least two nights somewhere central in Switzerland. Thatway you can travel into the italian part of Switzerland and into the french speaking part too.

:givemeattention: Having been to Germany for the rally 7 times, only made it 6 times :( , I can guarantee you will have a wonderful time. The people are great and Wolfgang runs a top notch operation in Pullman City. Andy, Petra and crew :yourock: do a bang up job organizing the rally every year so you won't be disappointed. Barry with the Euro low it maybe the dealers are waiting for it to go up. With the VAT it may not be that good a deal yet for them. Take a large SD card for your camera and if you get a chance take a Rhine River cruise for a day. There is so much history along the Rhine. Actually my wife and I took a 2wk Rhine Cruise this year. If you should get to St. Goar try to stop at the Lorelie Blick, really a great Hotel and restaurant. Tell them you know me and see what happens. Joseph is an absolute great chef. By the time your trip is over you will have made a great many new friends, Euro Boss Hoss people are teriffic.

Uwe,

I wish it was the Green Beast but I sold it in June and now it is a quieter Red Beast, picture below, this year that you will see in Daytona. (2008 Fuel Injected SB 385 HP with full catalytic exhaust to meet Europe standards so hopefully easier to sell)

You are such a gracious host...I so look forward to being in Germany with such AWESOME friends across the pond!!

Shipping already for Daytona?..wow..time flies. I am still working on getting my trike to Florida...slight problem in plans in shipping from Arizona to Florida but should be alright.

Wow, who would have thought how popular the "MiniaturWunderland" is beyond the city limits of Hamburg!

My workplace is about 5 min from the location and I am always surprised how crowded that place is. Kids and Adults at play! Lol.

I have been there only once with my son but there are many kids and adults who are visiting that place multiple times a year.

It is not really "en route" to Hasselfelde but in the event you go to Denmark or just visit the north sea or baltic sea coastline you may want to swing by.

Mark,

You are so right...Denmark is very close to Hamburg...will be interesting to see where our time after the rally takes us.

It's Official ... Got my plane ticket this morning. Leaving Orlando Thursday the 18th arriving Frankfurt Friday the 19th. Leaving for home Monday, July the 6th. Should be able to find a few things to do in between those dates ;)
NOW I gotta get the Bike Reservation firmed up and all will be good to go!

Iron Maiden wrote:Canuck and Petite- what are your travel days? Are you bringing your bikes? Anyone else planning on going?
We are both headed to Germany June 18th arriving the 19th (Friday) and we are both leaving Frankfurt July 6 ( Monday)
If you are interested in going, the flight I am taking on Singapore Air leaves Orlando ( Jet Blue ) at 4pm to JFK, then across arriving 10:45am. 2.5 hr flight up. 2 hr layover and 9 hr flight across. Cost is $13xx. Barry is shipping a trike so he will go to Frankfurt then he will pick it up with the help of Uwe. I will take a train from the airport for an hour (ish) to Kaiserslautern and get my rental from the BMW Military dealer. I will be on a 1200 GS Adventure.
The only other plans that I know of that are solid is our trip to Pullman city that I am told will be Monday. I am toying with the idea of ... landing> train> bike> Denmark> Heidelberg to meet up then go to Pullman city. After that we may go to visit with Martin or who knows what.
Of course Nothing is written in stone and I go with the flow and adapt easily so if a better idea comes up ...

IF the two of you want in, don't let our baldness scare you away ;)

Only Issue I am having is fitting my cowboy boots and hat along with my helmet in my carry on. Carsten wore his Leiderhosen to Biketoberfest so I have to wear proper Western wear to Pullman City!!!
I am allowed 2 bags BUT only have two saddlebags and a small top bag on the bike ... I will come up with something :)

:yourock: nice to hear that everything is booked travel dates,
if you wish - after picking up of your BMW bike from the dealer
Kaiserslautern, you are welcome in my home, :welcome:
is 85kilometer / approx 53miles to Heidelberg - 1 hour drive,
and we can go together to Pullman City Rally,

however,
Share your time and tour schedule as you like

we will have time to talk at Daytona Bike Week

see you soon,

Uwe.

It's great everything is saddled up for Barry and Denis.

It looks you have plenty of time before and after the rally, that helps if you want to see some of Europe...

Uwe,

My training for alcohol is not much as I have been allergic to alcohol for the past 40 years... I did one or 2 years in University where I did a lot of drinking every nite which is typical but my body said "NOPE" and since then I only drink about a dozen drinks a year or so...I will be a cheap date for Dennis..LOL and I will be enjoying the German "PONDWATER"

Other than that trying to shed a few pounds after New Years and stay in shape.

And speaking of razor blades. I switched to the new Fusion razor...crap they are expensive!! I can buy a DVD player for $27 and my blades on sale for 8 are $30...WTF?? seems like they are the only items that are going up...
