Does anyone have any information or manuals on a single speed automatic? My 1997 was converted from a clutch to an automatic before I purchased it, and I'm having a few issues with it. I did buy an owners manual for the bike, but it only talks about a clutch bike.

The problem I'm having is it won't move until it warms up for 2-3 minutes at idle. Before that, while in gear (push the switch on the handlebar), it will act like it's still in neutral, or slowly creep forward. It's almost like it takes a few minutes to circulate the fluid inside.

Has anyone else had that problem? I've search online for answers to no avail.

Add another pint of transmission fluid. IF that doesn't
do it try another cup of fluid. It worked for me and
my single speed automatic I up graded to in my 1991.

Like Paul said try a little more fluid .. or ( maybe) replace electric solenoid. may not be fully activating.. ?? good luck..

I see the fluid is a little low right now. Not terrible, but could stand to receive a little extra.

I'm assuming it's standard ATF?

The early transmissions ran what was, basically, tractor fluid

Check the trans fluid color. If it is Red, most likely ATF.

On a 99 SB I had a few years ago, I am sure it had the Mobile 1 Racing 4T fluid.

That would be a two speed. The one speeds specified John Deere Hy Gard or an equivalent. If it has ATF in it, that could be problematic. ATF is much thinner than the Deere hydraulic fluid

Nope, that 99 SB was a single speed.

From the other board: "Hi Oldman, If you have a 99 1 speed auto it came with Dex II. That is why it looks a little red. But you can use the MX4T in the one speed. The MX4T is a much better fluid and is compatible to mix with what ever Dex II that will still remain in the tranny during the fluid change.

The early two speeds (2000-2001) came with Hygard in them and they to should be refilled with MX4T.

I do know that my one speed had some sort of motor or hydraulic oil in it. It wasn't red and it didn't smell like ATF. Beyond that observation, I haven't a clue. I never changed it or had to top it off, so it coulda been whale oil, for all I know. I only ran the Nesco for a short while before changing to the Ranger 2 speed manual trans
