ok I should know this by now. According to web info the PCV valve should be replaced yearly...umm... ....is this correct and does everybody else actually do this? Its weeping a little oil over the valve cover after each ride and I'm wondering if this is connected to an aging valve. anyone?

Usually they leak around the rubber grommet. What I do is take the rubber out and clean it and the valve cover area with brake clean and put a small amount of silicone in the groove to seal it up.

If you can shake the valve and hear a rattle, then the valve is ok

Thanks for the reminder Joe I still haven't done anything about it. Silicon, rattle, tefflon tape - ok I think I'm right to go now.
