On my 57 trike I have 275 / 45 R 20 on a 10" wide rim
Circumference is 93.44 inches. about 12% over the stock 15 " rims.
I am going to get stock , new style factory rims, 17 " by 8" wide and want the same circumference so the RPM s are very very similar.
What is the widest tire I could run on the new rim??
Stock tire size on that 17 inch rim from factory is 235 / 60 R 17 but that is smaller in circumference by over 5 ".
Any car tire gurus out there??

Re: Any car tire gurus out there??
275 50 r17 is 6 inches smaller...about 6% more rpmarizona outlaw wrote:try a 285/ 50 R17

285 50 r17 still 5% more rpm
255 60 r17 about 2.5% rpm
275 60 r17 is only 1% more rpm...I could live with that...

Just make sure the wider tire doesn't rub the body. Not sure your clearance or off-set of the rim, but it could be a bad situation.....
I'm sure you have already thought of this tho.

Re: Any car tire gurus out there??
Been told by more than one that those new style rims fit / can replace the older style rims...the offset is similar so no worry there.Tx Outlaw wrote:Just make sure the wider tire doesn't rub the body. Not sure your clearance or off-set of the rim, but it could be a bad situation.....

Also the tire I am running now is on a 10" rim and is wide ass so going to 8" I should be OK..."should be"..never for sure till you try
Thanks

Re: Any car tire gurus out there??
here is what the Factory says are the specs of the newer style rim.
"New Style 17" x 8" , 5 on 4.5" / 4.75" Dual Bolt Pattern,
4 3/4" Backspace +6mm Offset"
Can somebody point me to an actual rim to buy somewhere that has these specs??
or even the same specs in a 17 X 10 or 18 X 10??
I am not rim or tire expertised...just looking for help
