I installed one recently and wanted to ask:
How many gals do you have left when going on reserve?
My tank holds 6.5 and after going to reserve and riding less than 5 mi to a station, I am putting in betwen 3.5 - 3.8 gals. Pingle told me that normally it provides about 1.5 -2. Told them it was for a Boss.
So, was wondering if I have an issue or is that normal for these bikes?
Also, as with many, my crossover loops around the back of the dist. Would it not be better to have it a straight shot between the tanks and not have it going down and uphill to help when filling up?
Maybe mine is longer than normal therefore inhibiting filling the tank all the way?

Re: Question for those with a Pingle w/reserve on a Boss
Hi Bill.
I have the Pingle, and I've only run out
a few times before having to use the
reserve feature. Then I get to a gas
station asap. I usually have to put in
somewhere between 6.5 and 7.5 gallons
to fill up. It appears mine is "acting"
the way Pingle says it will.
I didn't do the long loop, just have the
straight shot under the tank in front
of the carb.
I know this doesn't help you out, but at
least you can compare.

Re: Question for those with a Pingle w/reserve on a Boss
The tank is, basically, one tank with a tunnel. The crossover allows it to empty completely. When filling, the right side fills until gas reaches the top of the tunnel and then it spills into the left side, like most all bikes. The crossover has no bearing on filling the tank, only emptying it.

Re: Question for those with a Pingle w/reserve on a Boss
I too run a Pingle with reserve. But I run it on reserve all the time because of my 2 gallon reserve tank. Since I raised the rear of my tank slightly to accommodate my air filter setup with the Quadrajet I can now put in 8 gallons with out spilling out the overflow. So, the next time I fill up, i'll put it petcock on "on" and run it till it runs out. I'll then fill and see how many gallons it takes and let you know.

The Pingle gives you approximately 1.5 gallons on a stock tank set -up with old style tank.

great question, have been wondering that myself. I have a mountain tank. i need to carry some fuel with me one day and test this.
It won't take long to run out of fuel...HaHa

I have "mesured" it by going up and down in front of a gas station. There were 1.3 Gallons left in my tank.
